Product Camp is bringing together Product Managers, Engineers, Product Markets, Entrepreneurs and everyone responsible for creating, curating, and implementing product vision. What's an Unconference?

An unconference is a conference organized, structured and led by the people attending it. Instead of passive listening all attendees and organizers are encouraged to become participants with discussion leaders providing moderation and structure for attendees.

At the unconference event topics are not predetermined, keynote speakers have not been assigned, panels have not been arranged. Instead, the event lives and dies by the participation of you and other attendees. So whether you come prepared to run a full workshop or presentation, lead a Q&A, or just contribute to an open discussion, all formats are welcome.

What Do You Need to Bring?

It sounds like an obvious question, but many people arrive with a vague idea and no real plan. As a session host you do not need to necessarily present (in fact many of the best sessions are often round tables or group discussions) but you should be prepared to facilitate.  Have a plan and communicate it to the people that show up. Keep it interactive! 

Write a concise, positioned session proposal.

Attendees may have as many as 50 sessions to choose from – make sure yours stands out.  The best proposals include:

  • a catchy title people will remember
  • a concise and engaging description of what people will get out of it and who would benefit
  • the format of your session

Running good usability studies costs thousands of dollars and requires years of experience. So what are you going to do if you are on your own and broke? So attendees present the sessions?

Yes, and usually the attendees come from far and wide for the opportunity. People who attend ProductCamp not only love building and shipping products but tend to be innovators and influencers themselves. They ooze great ideas and look forward to sharing them with others in their industry. These are typically people who have the real world experience to back up what they’ll talk about. It’s also a fun group of people so you’re in for a good time!

Talk about experiences you’ve had in the field of creating and delivering products to market. Do you know something about managing product development teams, identifying new trends in marketing a product, or maybe an innovative pricing strategy? Or maybe you know the fundamentals of gathering competitive intelligence or writing business cases.

Not all sessions are presentations – maybe you have a problem you would like to get solved and want feedback? Perhaps you have a product idea but need help taking it to market? Or maybe you are recruiting and want to find candidates.  Anything goes.
